Jaipur Artists Walking Tour
Artists of Jaipur Walking Tour: Meet Master Craftsmen
🗺️ Old City Meeting Point → Miniature Painting Studio → Block Printing Workshop → Gem Cutting Studio → Optional: Blue Pottery Studio
Designed for art lovers, photographers, and cultural travelers, this Jaipur craft walking tour offers rare access to working artisan studios. Guests meet master craftsmen, learn traditional techniques, and discover why Jaipur is considered one of India’s most important centers for art and craftsmanship.
Jaipur is one of the great craft cities of the world. Behind its famous monuments is a living tradition of miniature painting, block printing, gem cutting, and metalwork — skills passed down through families over fifteen, twenty, and sometimes thirty generations.
Most tourists see the finished products in showrooms. The Artists of Jaipur Walking Tour takes you to the workshops where those products are actually made. You step inside working studios, sit with master craftspeople, and watch skills that have survived for centuries being practised right in front of you.
Maximum 6 guests only. This is a small, intimate tour — designed so every guest gets a genuine, unhurried experience with each artisan.

Who You Will Meet
You begin at the studio of a miniature painter whose family has been practising this art for fifteen generations. Using brushes made from squirrel hair, natural pigments ground from minerals and plants, and gold leaf on hand-prepared paper, he creates intricate scenes that can take weeks to complete.
He walks you through a work in progress, demonstrates the finest brushwork you have ever seen, and answers every question you have about the craft. This is a conversation, not a performance.
Jaipur is the world capital of hand block printing. At this workshop, a third-generation block printer shows you the entire process — from the carved wooden blocks to the mixing of natural dyes to the precise, rhythmic printing of fabric by hand.
The smell of natural indigo, the clean thud of the block on cloth, and the perfect repeat of the pattern — watching this craft up close makes you understand why it has survived for centuries.
In a small workshop lit by a single bright lamp, a skilled gem cutter works on rough stones that arrive in Jaipur from mines across India and the world. He explains how a raw piece of emerald becomes a finished gem, what tools are used at each stage, and how Jaipur’s gem trade grew to become the largest in Asia.
If time allows, your guide may take you to a blue pottery studio — where artisans work with the unique quartz-based clay that gives Jaipur’s blue pottery its distinctive colour and finish. A UNESCO-recognised craft and one of the rarest skills in the city.
